We are currently seeking a Counseling Assistant who will be responsible to assist counseling center staff in performing appropriate clinical functions to facilitate client movement between counseling center programs. This position presents psycho-educational lectures, conducts substance abuse testing, urine drug screens and assists in documentation. On occasion this position may also conduct counseling groups under the direct oversight of the Clinical Supervisor. The position provides leisure, social and spiritual program, and family education. This position assures a safe and drug free environment and provides Life Skills and 12 Step Education.
REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Associates degree in human services field or equivalent years working in residential addiction treatment field preferred
Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CSAC-A, CAC, CSAC)
Certification in CPR and First Aid
Must possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in addiction treatment field
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of chemical addiction treatment and of 12 Step recovery process preferred
General computer knowledge and skills, including, but not limited to use of email and basic timekeeping
Experience and comfort working with electronic medical record systems
Ability to work with diverse populations and use of de-escalation techniques
SCHEDULE
Part Time, 20 hours per week: some flexibility in days and hours between Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm.
