Job Description
General Position Summary:
The Therapy Services Aide/Technician carries out clerical duties necessary for the function of the Department: cleans and maintains treatment areas and equipment; and provides patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical, Occupation and Speech Therapist.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
Clerical:
- Checks for new orders on Paragon (Order Management).
- Orders patient care/wound care supplies as needed.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Cleans and disinfects whirlpools as per the appropriate policies and procedures.
- Maintains and cleans hot and cold pack units including recording on daily logs.
- Maintains linen supply in department.
- Maintains patient care supplies including thorough cleaning after patient care.
- Miscellaneous cleaning of equipment.
Patient Care:
- Transports equipment or patients to and from Therapy Services Department as needed for inpatient care.
- Sets up treatment area for each patient.
- Assist patient as needed before, after and during treatment.
- Set-up and applies hot/cold packs.
- Assists with treatment modalities under the on site supervision of licensed Physical, Occupation and Speech Therapists.
- Assists with training appropriate for in-patient under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapist.
- Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE behavior standards.
- Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
In-Service:
- Attends hospital wide and departmental meeting on a regular basis.
- Maintains Healthstream compliance through fulfilling annual requirements and hospital policies and procedures.
- Obtain and maintain current CPR certification and TB test within 30 days upon hire and renewal.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent (required).
- Current CPR/BLS certification (required).
- Current Therapy Services Aide/Technician Experience (preferred)
