Job Description
PURPOSE:In all of our centers, the first point of contact for our patients is the Front Desk Receptionist. As first impressions are lasting, it is imperative that our personnel portray patience, understanding, and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patient Contact and Care
Greets all incoming patients.
Will escort patients to the exam room and prepare them for their visit with the physician.
Collects co-payments, deductibles, and patient balance as indicated by insurance card and computer billing system.
Schedules follow up visits for patient and ensure that patient has all their post-visit instructions as directed by Physician.
2. Maintenance of patient's chart.
Patient demographics.
Billing information.
Copy photo I.D. and insurance card, front and back.
Obtain necessary consent form signatures, including HIPAA policy.
3. Verification of Insurance Benefits.
Benefits are confirmed through electronic or phone contact with the insurance provider for every patient encounter. Eligibility and financial responsibility information must be communicated clearly to patients.
Benefit information is documented in the patient record.
4. Assist with Patient Collections.
Daily chart prep will include identifying patient financial responsibility for each visit and any outstanding balances due. Collections per company policy.
Assist with patient questions regarding billing and insurance payments.
5. Schedule patient appointments.
New and follow up appointments within the practice
Consultation appointment referrals.
6. Assist with incoming phone calls.
Manage incoming phone calls and transfer appropriately.
Must be able to take complete and accurate messages, delivered in a timely fashion.
7. Medical Coding
Enter all CPT and ICD-9 coding into medical management system for code capture, where remote capabilities are available.
Enter all word codes into medical management system per company policy and procedures.
Follow established check and balance systems to ensure complete and accurate code capture.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Maintain a cheerful, positive and respectful attitude.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Good telephone, computer, and typing skills. Intergy experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9, and CPT coding.
1+ year experience as medical receptionist preferred for this busy office.
High school graduate or equivalent.
