Kong products manage reliable digital connections across APIs, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Kong users build and maintain software as developers, operators, and enterprise architects.
The (Lead/Staff/Principal) Product Designer will be the most senior hands-on designer on the team and will demonstrate excellence in craft, process, strategy and communication. Your experience and voice will be critical to developing world-class user experiences within Kong Products.
Kong is a fully distributed team with an HQ office in San Francisco. This role is remote and open to US, Canadian and European applicants. The role is eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

As an experienced product designer, you apply just as much energy to solving user journey’s as you do to highly-polished and beautiful visual design.
- Design System: Develop the next-generation of our design system at Kong.
- Communication: You’re an expert in sharing context and information rather than hoarding knowledge to ensure both immediate team and other teams understand project work.
- Impact: Driven to not only be on schedule, but consistently ahead of schedule. You work on highly impactful projects, and help encourage others to keep that same relentless focus on what’s important.
- Leveling others up: You inspire the team and regularly coach members of the product design team. Help educate others outside of the design team on the value and processes of design and fearlessly suggest improvements to team processes.
We Want to Hear From You If
- You have at least 6+ years of related experience, ideally in data-rich enterprise SaaS products or similar
- A product design portfolio required. Portfolio demonstrates an understanding of the design process, user research and design’s impact on business goals.
- Can work independently to explore concepts from beginning to end, without neglecting the value of continuous feedback.
- Love tackling ambiguous problems and shaping them into clear goals
- Value high-quality, well-crafted visual and interaction design and care about the details
- Are generative and enjoy coming up with novel, but simple solutions
