Sr. Product Designer

3 minute read

Have you ever tried watching the end of a close basketball, soccer, football, or <insert your favorite sport> game only to give up after failing to find a working stream that wasn’t pixelated to death? Have you ever caught a highlight on Instagram or TikTok and felt a pang of regret because you wish you witnessed it live? Do you love watching sports and are just annoyed by how hard it can be to, well, watch live sports? Come work at Buzzer to make sure fans are always able to watch the moments that matter the most to them.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to be the primary designer for all of our products, including our iOS and Android app. This role is a best-fit for a generalist or “full-stack” designer who’s comfortable utilizing their full toolkit.  This role will be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys influencing every aspect of the product and gets energy from collaborating with engineers to see their ideas ship.

What we’re looking for in this role:

You are excited to take on any product design task. You are comfortable with all aspects of design because you’ve already had a variety of experiences to shape your craft. You like to both zoom out to evaluate the UX of an entire product while also zooming in to update a settings menu or tweak an error message. You’re self-aware and know your own limits so you know when it’s better to ask for help by bringing in external resources.

You thrive when things ship. You’re hungry for feedback from real users and know the best idea is only as good as what we can deliver as a team. You are biased towards action and this drives you to proactively set your teammates up for success.

You care about the details. You think through every edge case and potential empty state. You go the distance to build out flows to demonstrate to the team how a new feature should work both in theory and in practice. You’re bothered when something is half a pixel off or an animation is a few milliseconds too slow.

You are comfortable with ambiguity. You’ve done this long enough to know there’s never perfect information or a singular bundle of research that spells out what we should do. You can see through the anxiety and uncertainty and help guide the team to prioritize solutions that solve real problems. You know how to ignore the noise and are comfortable pushing back when you believe we’re churning.

You want to be a player-coach. You will be simultaneously designing and helping build out a product design team. You are at a point in your career where you still want to be in Figma every day while also giving feedback on the latest dev build. But you are also at a point in your career where you want to set aside more time to actively mentor, recruit, and build a team. You are comfortable knowing this role can evolve quickly and that excites you.

You want to lead (and take on the responsibilities that entails). Our executive team, product managers, engineers, and others will help refine what problems we think are worth solving, but you are running point on how we choose to solve these problems. You’ll need to be able to not just come up with solutions, but communicate the reasoning behind these decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a product designer
  • Highly proficient in design workflows using Figma
  • Experience building design systems for teams to use
  • Strong prototyping skills to rapidly test and iterate on interactions and experiences
  • Experience interpreting the results of multivariate tests to make decisions
  • A love of sports and a familiarity with watching / consuming sports on your phone
