The Senior Marketing Copywriter reports to the Manager, Marketing Copy. This position is responsible for working with line of business marketers to develop product positioning; thought leadership content; social storytelling; video scripts and marketing copy for all materials developed in support of Assurant business units and consumer-facing collateral for client brands.

Responsibilities

Copywriting — 50%

  • Develops accurate, effective and legally compliant marketing copy in support of the objectives of the organization and its lines of business, including product marketing, event marketing and business development content.
  • Writes and edits digital copy for social, web-based and mobile applications and programs based on approved marketing messages using digital best practices.
  • Expert in Assurant’s brand voice. Builds compelling product, topic and campaign positioning that measurably improves engagement with target audiences and supports the brand.

Subject Matter Expert — 30%

  • Works with line of business marketers to understand line of business objectives, marketing key messages and product specifics.
  • Works with line of business marketers to develop content strategy.

Teamwork — 20%

  • Works with the design and video team to execute top quality creative content, ensuring that content is fit for purpose and channel.
  • Works with line of business and SMEs to ensure creative copy captures the essence of the marketing strategy as well as the brand voice and tone.
  • Works with Copyeditor and Proofreader to ensure all copy is accurate and error free.

Basic Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree majoring in English, Advertising, Communications or Journalism
  • Minimum six years copywriting experience for agency or in-house corporate creative team
  • Thorough understanding of copywriting for digital channels
  • Thorough understanding of AP Style
  • Able to collaborate with designers and marketers, serving as a strategic marketing partner
  • Understanding of the principles of scriptwriting. Able to work with videographers and motion graphics designers to deliver scripting fit for purpose
  • Creative writing samples that demonstrate originality, innovation,
  • problem-solving, personal expression and results-oriented content
  • Proficiency in Mac and Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

  • Marketing experience working in a regulated industry such as insurance or banking
