Building Services Assistant – Student
Working with the Building Services team assisting in performing a variety of manual and clerical work in space changes; furniture rearrangement; special furniture and space setups; and equipment and furniture assembly. Responsibilities also include providing assistance in custodial services, and office relief coverage, if required.

Job Duties (Position Specific)

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Perform work involved in space changes and room setups, often as lead person.
Assemble equipment and furniture.
Provide relief and absence coverage for office personnel and custodial staff.
May be required to work in other areas of the Physical Plant.
Perform some duties of the Building and Campus Services Crew Leader in his/her absence.
Perform other related duties, as required.
Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours or for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the various campuses.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and vendors to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate equipment or furniture.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position’s essential functions are performed indoors and outdoors and subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees) and extreme hot temperatures (temperatures above 100 degrees).
This position requires the person to communicate above ambient noise levels and exchange accurate information in various situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to operate a forklift or other similar lifting and moving equipment.
Ability to effectively use a variety of hand tools.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to read simple drawings and plans.
Required Training Work Hours
25 hours per week as arranged around school schedule.
