Warehouse Manager
Job Description
The Warehouse Manager will oversee all phases of daily warehouse operations and provide input on the strategic direction for operations that can drive performance and financial improvements. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for smooth daily operations that meet and exceed daily performance expectations through a passion for developing and leading a growing, effective warehouse team.

Sets the standards for performance assessment and feedback, effective communication, promoting positive morale and supporting team effectiveness.

Assists and oversees all hiring, promotions, recognition, discipline, and performance management within each operational department.

Responsible for associate development and enrichment, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Ability to direct others, to listen and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and the willingness to hold self and others accountable for individual and team behavior and results.

Provides cost and expense controls for the warehouse.

Develops and implements budget for each operational department (receiving, pulling, processing and shipping), monitors costs to budget for assigned general ledger accounts.

Utilizes cost data to streamline processes and lower overall warehousing costs.

Enhances the quality assurance program within warehouse operations and manages relationships with internal business partners to drive improvement.

Ensures employees’ ability to safely operate material handling equipment.

Establishes overall warehouse work schedules in conjunction with department managers and team leads based on customer demand, processing capacity and lead times.

Responsible for management of direct and indirect personnel including planning and assigning daily work and supervising proper shift allocations to ensure efficiency of all warehouse staff.

Oversees, monitors, and establishes continuous improvement for the day to day warehousing process and achieving goals of annual strategic plan.

Provides guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling to hold employees, colleagues and internal stakeholders accountable to the Booksource culture.

Establishes expectations for direct and indirect reports and drive accountability by modeling and implementing the Booksource core values.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in management, administration, supply chain or other technical field; OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of education and work experience.

5 years in warehouse operations and minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to operate in a cross-functional environment.

General PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to manage complexity.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work an occasional weekend shift during peak season

Ability to analyze and identify opportunities for process improvement resulting in cost or time saved.

Working understanding of WMS system and prior implementation of WMS systems is a plus.

Working understanding of 5S as it pertains to warehousing and ability to implement its principles.
Physical Requirements
Warehouse Manager must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and must be able to bend and stoop, as well as sit and/or stand long periods of time. This job may also require the employee to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
