Prevention Counselor
Job Description
Children’s Aid is searching for a Prevention Counselor to implement and manage counseling services within Children’s Aid community centers and schools. He/ She will be responsible for delivering prevention counseling and other services to teens and families, utilizing the (OASAS) Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services individual counseling standards and Evidenced Based Programs (EBP’s) Teen Intervene. The Prevention Counselor will be responsible for ensuring that all prevention counseling cases are maintained in accordance with (OASAS) and (DOHMH) The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide screenings, assessments, admissions and discharges for Prevention program.
- Review and maintain all counseling service records.
- Enter all data into WITNYS.
- Ensure accurate daily attendance records.
- Provide services for all appropriate service referrals.
- Ensure service plans are individualized and culturally appropriate for participants.
- Prepare reports as needed, including input to OASAS work plan and monthly OASAS reports.
- Organize and provide presentations to community agencies, schools and other stake holders on prevention issues and services available.
- Adhere to policy and procedures of CA Dunlevy Milbank Center.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Credentialed Prevention Professional: CPP, CPS, CASAC , LMSW or QHP Required
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years with youth and adolescents
- Bi-lingual preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft, Excel
