Job Description

The Systems Analyst is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software related infrastructure. This individual participates in research and development to enable continuing innovation and ensure that the systems are providing value to the staff and the company.

The individual will assist company managers and project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of standard and special project management. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of staff in executing, testing, and rolling-out solutions. Participation in projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Systems Analyst

  • Install new / rebuild or enhance existing systems and configure software & hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standard and project/operational requirements.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for SA tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Program or customize software when possible to enhance the functionality and value of the software as needed for our company's particular needs.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain systems standards and security.
  • Perform daily systems monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as reports and backups.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per requests.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users.
  • Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity and functionality planning.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Provide ongoing user support and training to maximize systems value and ROI.
  • The individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems that support MS Dynamics Great Plains, Compass & Business Portal; Technique; Timeforce; XM Pie; Faciliworks; Invetrak; BCC; Monticello; VIP Inkjet Control; and multiple proprietary production control systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable of MS SQL, MS Active Directory, and VMware
