Job Description

This position is responsible for ensure a quality program is ran by monitoring and maintaining facilities and equipment used by the YMCA to carry out the program at the highest level possible. Must act as an extension of the Program Director in charge of sports by addressing any questions and concerns brought by coaches or program participants. The job consists of working with employees of various departments, outside organizations (civic & private), volunteers, and program participants.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position working 30 hours per week. This position pays $10.00 an hour.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

KNOW HOW:
Incumbent must have working knowledge of sports with an emphasis in youth baseball. Also must have an understanding of the YMCA mission in sports and how that mission is carried out using the YMCA’s Core Values. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Incumbent must have the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time, work evenings, weekends, some holidays, lifting up to 75 lbs. Must be certified by the Red Cross in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
Must complete officials training
Ability to officiate various ages and levels of sports with an emphasis in youth baseball
Operate Sports Website scheduling and standings software
Arrive 60 minutes prior to start of scheduled events and stay late as needed.
Communicate problems and concerns shared by the participants to program director in charge of sports.
Must be able to relate to all program participants in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
Have confidence needed to enforce rules at all facilities utilized to carry out the program.
Ability to address and respond to any actions that are not in line with the YMCA mission or philosophy.
Must provide the safest possible environment by helping to organize and maintain the program area including any and all equipment used by program participants.
Report any and all incidents to supervisor.
Responsible for carrying out approved emergency action plans in the event of an emergency.
Clean program area before and after activities.
Set up and canvas playing surfaces prior to program and return equipment after program to provide a safe environment.
Perform Field & Complex Maintenance duties.
Supervise Employees (gate operators, concession, officials)
Maintain financial and inventory system (attendance, concession, supplies)
Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, participants and volunteers.
Accepts responsibility for association wide sports programs as needed.
Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers.
Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
Must have experience in various YMCA programs or other programs similar to those the YMCA offers.
Must be in good physical working condition and able to perform the functions of the job.
Must display Christian character.
