OverviewA multi-discipline Engineering firm specializing in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering design services, is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our growing Virginia Beach, Va. team and serve a variety of clients in the Federal (DoD: US Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Command, Air Force, National Guard Army/Air), State & Local Government, Higher & K-12 education, Healthcare, Science & Technology, Commercial, Retail & Multi-Family Residential markets.
Responsibilities- Working in a professional and collaborative design environment with Owners, D/B Managers, Contractors, Prime and Sub-
- Consultants. Coordinating MEP building systems with architectural design and field experience providing construction
- administration services. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while demonstrating leadership by implementing new concepts,
- technology, and designs.
- Direct and lead the mechanical engineering staff.
- Monitor engineering cost, product cost, and schedule of assigned jobs or projects.
- Develop new ideas and concepts for improvement in engineering operations.
- Provide assessments of facility conditions, review HVAC, plumbing and control system designs for smart buildings, review
- specifications, inspect and troubleshoot HVAC systems and controls, perform commissioning and provide mechanical design
- engineering.
- Create mechanical design calculations, specifications, and drawings for projects. Conduct field surveys to assess condition of
- existing equipment.
- Plan the work and coordinate concepts, criteria and goals at the beginning of each project so that changes and corrections are
- minimized. Prepare daily, weekly, monthly project reports, organize and plan projects and develop cost estimates.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Perform Quality Control (QC) checks for possible conflicts with other disciplines and to ensure compliance with all applicable
- criteria, codes, and regulations.
- Retain additional discipline-specific certification/accreditation including but not limited to; CEM, LEED AP BD+C, BEMP, GGP
- Possess either a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an
- accredited university.
- Have 10-15 years of experience in mechanical systems design, especially on large military or related industry projects.
- Hold an active Professional Engineering (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Show experience with new building constructions, restoration and renovation, industrial, and Federal DoD military projects and the
- design of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, process piping, steam systems, etc.
- Strong organizational, graphic presentation, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Demonstrate proficiency in CAD/BIM applications; Revit (preferred), AutoCAD, and Bentley Microstation products as well as
- Microsoft Office suite.

- Services Manual (CPSM) training and certification a plus.
