Research Worker
Job Description
The research worker's primary experimental system is human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from patients with known genetic diseases or matched controls. The research worker will be investigating how signaling can enhance iPS cell formation, maintain pluripotency, enhance differentiation, and alter human disease phenotypes. Recently developed high-efficiency genetic engineering tools such as zinc finger and TALEN nucleases make it possible to correct the mutation, enabling transplantation back into the patient as an autologous approach to regenerative medicine. We are seeking a motivated individual to assist/work phenotype patients with known DNA mutations and testing the efficacy of stem cell transplantation and gene therapy; Manage mouse colonies, keep organized laboratory records and other duties as assigned to facilitate molecular medicine research of the lab.
