Purchasing Administrator (part-time)
Job Description
Business is busy and we have a great new opportunity! Northwest Pump & Equipment is looking for a Part-Time Purchasing Administrator to add to our team in NW Portland! This position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday; exact schedule to be determined with the hiring manager.
We are looking for a strong team player to join our fast paced, active Purchasing Department; someone who is reliable, dependable, very accurate, organized, and can navigate around basic computer systems. Someone would be great for this role that has an upbeat attitude, gets along well with a variety of personalities, is energetic and ready for a new challenge.
Primary Duties (and other duties as assigned):
- Place POs created by Purchasing Agents via fax, email, or on-line data entry
- Record specifications of POs via Order Acknowledgements and Shipping Notifications
- Consult catalogs and/or vendors to maintain prices on existing parts
- Set up new parts in current operating system
- Catalog vendor literature and price sheets
- Confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries, and/or any discrepancies with quantity or quality
- Run and maintain department Excel reports for use by Purchasing and other departments
- Interface with all departments and resolve problems and issues regarding purchased items
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent data entry skills; strong math skills; detail oriented
- Ability to work in a high volume department; strong organizational skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously, and as a team; self-motivated
- Proven history of being reliable and dependable
- Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook; basic internet skills; ability to learn/ utilize new computer skills effectively
- Effective communication, verbally and in writing with all levels of customers and co-workers is essential; ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to contribute to an "Ownership Culture" and understands all decisions have an impact on our business
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of equivalent work experience preferred
- Experience in the parts industry a plus
- Experience with Infor software a plus
