Public Health Nurse II
Job Description
Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing client care, public health education and health-related investigations in order to promote community wellness. Work involves some evening and weekend assignments and requires the use of a personal vehicle. Candidates must provide their availability for evening and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.For an additional description of this position, please refer to the classification specification for Public Health Nurse II
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing, current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; OR completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing, current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and three years of professional nursing experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licenses : Must be licensed by the Missouri State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse at the time of filing application and while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application. Must present RN and driver's licenses at the Oral Interview. Please note licenses on the Employment Application. At the Oral Interview, applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a " Driving Record Check " from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
Documentation of academic credentials and nursing license must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment history. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
