Position Summary:The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) Facilities Management Unit has an opening for a High Pressure Plant Tender (HPPT). In this position the HPPT is responsible (under direct supervision), to inspect, maintain, and repair ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and related auxiliary systems and equipment. The HPPT also assists in the maintenance and repair of this equipment at DANY facilities and locations. Please note that in this position at DANY, the HPPT will not be working with high pressure steam boilers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintains, cleans, repairs and/or tends to, equipment and systems used in ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and related auxiliary equipment.
- Assists in the inspection and testing of equipment and systems used in ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and related auxiliary equipment.
- May dismantle and/or assemble equipment associated with ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and mechanical systems to make it operational.
- Requisitions parts as required.
- Maintains inventory and maintenance databases.
- Meets with vendors performing repairs.
- Reviews contractor proposals.
- Operates a motor vehicle.
- Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
- Sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational high school.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems.
- A valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License.
- A valid Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating Machine Operator (Unlimited Capacity), issued by the New York City Fire Department and/or a Certificate for Hazardous Materials and/or a CFC Certificate issued by EPA for Handling Refrigerants.
- A valid FDNY burn certificate.
- A valid FDNY fire watch certificate.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime assignments on short notice.
- One (1) year commitment to the hiring unit.
