What you get to do: Manages catering and sales activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Your day to day:

  • Work closely with the Director of Sales and Sales Managers to secure leads for meeting rooms and in servicing all sales groups and conventions.
  • Assist and meet with clients to finalize all meeting room set-ups, menus, equipment requirements, and sleeping room needs. Coordinate transportation requests, off property dining.
  • Personally inspect the meeting rooms prior to each event to ensure that the set-ups are correct and to meet the meeting planner to offer personal service to him/her to ensure a successful event.
  • Prepare the bill for the meeting room even to be posted by the front desk in a timely manner.
  • Assist the accounting department in the collection of overdue meeting room billings.
  • Oversee Banquet Supervisor in all aspects of scheduling set-up staff and banquet service for all sales groups, convention space groups.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, financial reports, and sales & catering agreements/contracts. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to public groups and/or corporate accounts.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee may be required to travel on out-of-town sales trips and must be able to handle the physical requirements of traveling and assist in setting up banquets and catered functions.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may be required to lift 15-20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
