Role Summary:
To prepare records of receipts/shipments, bills of lading and tickets for all inbound/outbound truck carriers. Prepares records of receipt of incoming material and components and posts to open orders of customers. Responsible for accuracy of shipping/receiving documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders.
Requirements:
Shipping and receiving clerks keep records, prepare shipments, and accept deliveries of goods.
Minimum HS Diploma and preferably 2-3 years in similar setting and operation.- Arrange all delivery appointments as needed by customer for component
- Contact all carriers for Pick-up of Finished Goods. Process information on line by customer requirements for scheduling pick-ups.
- Prepare packing lists and BOL’s needed for carrier pickup. Prepare shipping documents and mailing labels and make sure that orders have been filled correctly
- Contact and interface with all support vendors; ie: Trash pick-up, pallet, corrugated, empty drum containers etc. that we need service for.
- Deliver on a daily basis all incoming packages received in the facility to office personnel
- Coordinate with Production Planners on all their needs to fulfill customer requirements regarding information required for shipping each customers finished goods properly.
- Attach identifying information and shipping instructions on containers
- Trace missing or misplaced shipments
- Verify receipt of shipments against bills of lading, invoices or other records
- Provide backup as team when needed
General Requirements: Including but not limited to:
- Familiar with computers and other electronic office and business equipment
- Keep records of all goods shipped and received
- Strength, stamina, communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work at repetitive tasks, sometimes under pressure, are important characteristics
- Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or substitutions have been made
- Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, pallets, support vendor services, etc.
- May move materials on dock and throughout plant with hand truck
- Other requirements as necessary
- Verify contents of shipment against original order and invoice.
- Prepare documents such as work orders or invoices.
- Decide shipping method, using knowledge of shipping routes and rates.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, and damages. May use hand-held scanner.
- Contact companies to arrange for shipping and delivery of goods, or to correct problems.
- Order and store materials to maintain inventory of stock to be shipped.
- Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
- Deliver or route materials to departments.
- Fill orders or make sure orders are filled correctly.
- Record items taken from inventory.
- Use computers and other technical equipment to perform many duties, especially in larger companies.
