CNAT Class is a paid training program consisting of classroom and lab sessions where trainees learn the skills required to successfully complete the NYS CNA Certification Exam. The exam is 2 part (written and skills.)

Upon certification and assignment to a Nursing Unit: the CNA performs direct and indirect care to promote the comfort, safety, convalescence and rehabilitation of residents as directed by Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor/Charge Nurse. Must be competent in all skills on the resident care skills orientation checklist

Looking for mature and dedicated candidates to become Certified Nursing Aides. Trainees have responsibility to complete work assignments, be prepared for class, be prompt and report as scheduled. Follow all rules as outlined by the instructors, and be courteous to instructors and fellow students. Trainees may not miss more than 1 absence during classroom portion of the program and may not miss any time during clinical rotation. Trainees must maintain a 75% classroom and clinical average.

Certified Aides perform resident care according to policy/procedure and standards. Maintain a clean and safe environment for the resident, visitors and other staff. Use skills and knowledge according to residents identified geriatric and age-related needs. Set priorities according to resident’s needs, organizing and prioritizing work throughout the shift. Recognize and respond to emergent situations efficiently and effectively. Assist the resident with ADLs and any special care needs as indicated on the resident care assignment sheet .

  • Must be at least 18 years old with either a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language and follow directions.
  • Must have the ability to deal tactfully with residents, families and other employees.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out directions and instructions; ability to report changes in resident’s condition and other pertinent information.
  • Must be approved by DOH Criminal History Records Check process.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements, i.e.: lifting 50#
