After Hours Screener - Fort Bend County
Job Description
This position performs emergency after hours face to face screenings for persons determined to be in crisis situations due to their mental illness. Crisis screenings are performed according to the HHSC standards. This staff person assesses potential harm to self and/or others; individual functioning obtains collateral information and consults with the on-call Texana psychiatrist to determine the appropriate disposition for the patient including hospitalization if necessary. This staff person must have well developed assessment and crisis intervention skills. This staff must be able to do a crisis screening, gather necessary information and communicate necessary information to medical staff, hospitals, law enforcement and family members as needed and appropriate. Services must be delivered in a timely manner (within 1 hour of contact). Staff person is responsible for documentation and data entry and to complete the documentation and submit it by the next business morning. This person must be highly competent in clinical triage, eligibility determination, lethality assessment and coordination of necessary services. Availability: Hours are on call Monday through Friday 5pm-6am and over the weekends and holidays. Reports directly to the MCOT Manager and Crisis Services Manager. Adheres to and promotes the Texana compliance policyREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in related human services field; 1 year experience working in mental health field with crisis experience. JOB RELATED PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform SAMA. Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44lbs), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulders, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting. Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment , operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception. Qualified individuals must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
