As a teacher's aide with The Village Early Childhood Learning Center, you would be part of a teaching team in a preschool classroom working under the guidance and with the support of a Lead Teacher to prepare the children for kindergarten.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as an assistant to the classroom and its daily functioning
Participate in preschool planning meetings as needed to build effective collaborative efforts
Provide input on student progress. Collaborates with team completing children’s assessments
Treat children in developmentally appropriate ways
Serve all children without bias or favoritism
Encourage children’s independence and pro-social behavior
Monitor children
Help with dressing and toileting
Set up, prepare & clean up snack in classroom
Prepare materials for activities
Set up, clean up materials before and after activities
Lead activities with individual children, small groups, and/or large groups as appropriate
Light cleaning (e.g., tables, sinks, chairs, floor, etc.)
Monitor space for safety, cleanliness
Maintain an organized inventory

Required Experience:
Child Development Associate (CDA) and 12 credits of Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or enrolled in CDA program preferred; experience working in an early childhood educational setting a must.
Familiar with the CT Preschool Assessment Framework, as well as with the CT Early Learning Developmental Standards.
Familiar with CT Licensing Statues and Regulations for daycare centers.
Experience working with young children and their families.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification current or to be completed within the first 45 days of employment. Course completed must by from the list of approved courses for daycare centers by Office of Early Childhood.

Flexibility to complete shift within the center operating hours (7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.), as hours might change
Reliable transportation and ability to be on time for opening and/or stay for closing center
Ability to stand for most of the day, bend, stand up, run, jump suddenly to respond to children needs or during activities. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as related to children’s care needs.
