Program Coordinator, Outdoor Programs and Outreach
Job Description
In this role, you will contribute to REI’s success by supporting the implementation of new outdoor program offerings, as well as successfully administers existing programs, special projects, events, procedures, and operational practices. You will create communication, plans and tools that enable execution of national and regional programs at the local market level. You will work closely with the Outdoor Programs & Outreach Program Manager to move programs through to execution phase.Support new OPO program and strategic initiatives
Coordinate the execution of outdoor education, recreational, and outreach programs across the country.
Facilitate relationships with external partners such as non-profits, outdoor education providers, vendors; and assist in the development of new relationships
Foster and manage relationships with internal partners
Contributes to ongoing development and assessment of OPO Policies, Protocols, and procedures
Has read and thoroughly understands National Policies and their application in the field
Educates staff about the policies and can explain why they are important.
Stays current in all certifications required for the position
Conducts post-program analysis and tracks ROI
Bring your passion and expertise
2+ yrs outdoor education, outreach & events or adventure travel experience
Experience working with a diverse range of business partners
Excellent decision-making skills
Solid planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple and competing priorities
Ability to work independently with in-person as well as remote managers and peers
Strong identification with REI’s customer service philosophy; ability to effectively resolve customer issues
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Leisure and Recreation Management, or equivalent experience
High proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, SharePoint, Facebook, Twitter as well as REI internal programs (Pinnacle, Event Registration).
Ability to build and cultivate relationships within the industry
Strong written and verbal communication skills in formal and informal situations
Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
