POSITION PURPOSE

The Career Readiness & Cooperative Education Coordinator is responsible for promoting student employment positions and, once filled, complete the necessary employment paperwork and orientation for the student. This position is also responsible for updating policies and procedures outlined in the Student Employment Handbook and assisting with the coordination of professional development opportunities for students across campus. The position will also work with Evening, Weekend, and Online students on career preparedness and resume writing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Utilize technical systems to support student employment and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Setup student timecards and assist in accuracy of payroll process. Facilitate the evaluation process of student employment and monitor student progress. Assist in resolving supervisors concerns of students who are under-performing. Leverage student employment's exposure to students. Promote awareness of and engagement with student employment processes including placement of students in jobs through application and evaluation. Work with area employers in the Sheboygan community for part-time employment needs for the benefit of students. Develop and execute programming that advances student's soft skills and preparedness for the workforce. Develop outreach and training materials for supervisors and students. Assist in the coordination efforts of LU-ONE Lakeland's mentorship program for sophomores and juniors to connect with LU Alum. Work with adult students from the Evening, Weekend, and Online programs on basic career needs and resume writing. Advise students with regular office hours on resume writing. Represent the department at appropriate events as needed.
SPECIALIZE KNOW-HOW & SKILLS
Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products. Must be comfortable in database management skills. Ability to effectively manage time and priorities. Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with others. Strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrates organizational ability and attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently. Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed. Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
No or very limited exposure to physical risk; No or very limited physical effort required; Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
