Nemours is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist (FULL-TIME) to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.
​Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Job Duties
This position is responsible for providing Pharmacy Services within the Inpatient and Outpatient Retail Pharmacy Department at Nemours Children’s Hospital. The Clinical Pharmacist will review, clarify, verify, and provide recommendations for medication orders and be responsible for the dispensing of medications, and the activities surrounding dispensing, throughout the hospital and its associated clinics at Medical City.
Reviews, interprets, and verifies medication orders for accuracy using sound principles, accounting for pharmacology of the drug, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination with responsibility for establishing and overseeing the delivery and preparation of unit dose and parenteral pharmaceuticals.
Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies of the pharmacy department and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations concerning Controlled Substances.
Provide pediatric pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes including advising physicians and practitioners on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs, drug-drug, drug-food interactions and side effects, as well as assisting in the prescribing of appropriate doses.
Responsible to provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff and to patients and their families if needed.
Coordinates the activities of pharmacy technicians engaged in the preparation, labeling and delivery of medications in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs, controlled drugs, investigational drugs, and the maintenance of required records.
Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient’s charts accurately.
Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; monitors processes; maintain logs, records, and other documentation as assigned.
Promote the use of the Nemours Children’s Hospital drug formulary by converting non-formulary orders to formulary when possible, but facilitates procurement of non-formulary drugs when necessary.
Establish and maintain an open communication process throughout the hospital.
Works with other NCH colleagues to engage the patient and their family in medication discussions, planning and educational sessions to support Patient and Family Centered Care.
Job Requirements
PharmD with at least 3 years experience in a hospital pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy with at least 6 years experience in a hospital pharmacy (preferred).
Residency training and pediatric pharmacy experience preferred.
Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy preferred.
Valid American Heart Association BLS required upon hire.
Currently licensed by the State of Florida or legally eligible.
